I believe in dealing with the complexity of this world through utilizing chaos theory– the more we fill up the metaphorical toolbox of coping skills, the more options we have to use whenever life brings us troubles or something unexpected. The more we have an open mind to potential paths forward when we face troubles, the more likely we will choose a path that is in line with our values and helps us in achieving our desired goals. I want to help you build a life that you experience as truly worth living.
I utilize a trauma-informed approach to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. When addressing safety concerns with clients, I utilize DBT distress tolerance skill building approaches. When working with folks struggling with addiction, I utilize dialectical abstinence– an approach that holds abstinence and harm reduction as equally important goals.
Science supports the fact that the therapeutic relationship is the most impactful aspect of effective therapeutic treatment and I believe that embracing our mutual humanness in our sessions allows for authentic, boundaried, and healing bonds to build. As an art therapist, I believe that experiential learning through the art making process and the therapeutic relationship can help one increase their ability for creative problem solving, self soothing, thought exploration, emotional regulation, processing, and expression, somatic processing, healthy communication, and reflective distance.
I completed my Masters of Art in Art Therapy from Lewis and Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling in 2022 and have been practicing as an art therapist in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I am a member of the American Art Therapy Association.
